Why SERVPRO?!?

11/4/2019 (Permalink)

Your commercial property in Boyd, Carter, Greenup & Lewis Counties, is more than just a structure. It shelters employees and customers within it, along with all the necessities to keep your business thriving. When faced with a broken pipe or flooding, you need to be back up and running as quickly as possible. Instead of dealing with water clean-up alone, a certified professional has the expertise and know-how to make that happen.

IICRC Certification

When searching for a restoration company, it’s important to ensure the one you choose is certified through The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC). This nonprofit organization certifies professionals based on rigid standards. In order to be certified, a company must be insured, have the required tools for the jobs and technicians who have proven their expertise through a rigorous exam.

Benefits a Water Expert Provides

When it comes to water clean-up, it’s likely that you are not an expert in the field. Three main reasons to put your trust in a certified expert include:

Knowledge — Cleaning up water is more than just grabbing a towel. These experts have the tools and techniques to clean and dry your property to ensure mold doesn’t grow and further damage doesn’t happen. They can provide the answers you need and help you understand the process.

Ability — If your business has had extensive flooding and water damage, it’s no small feat to get it back into shape. Along with getting everything dried out, damaged areas will likely need to be replaced including drywall and carpeting. A trained professional handles the entire job for you.

Ethics — Certification goes beyond proving a company can do a job. The IICRC also has high standards for ethics, including a code of ethics that must be followed to maintain certification.

As a professional in your field, you want your customers to see you as a leader in your industry. When it comes to, water clean up you deserve the same high-quality service that you deliver. A certified water expert provides that peace of mind.

Clean Business = More Productivity

11/4/2019 (Permalink)

As studies show that a clean workplace can improve morale and increase the productivity of the workers, it is important to know that your workplace is as effective as it can be in this regard. An office can seem to be busing along at full efficiency on the surface, people are sitting nose to the grindstone working hard and “getting on with it”, but is that actually what is going on or is this image just what is expected?

If people are not happy in their workplace they often hunker down and look very busy, but the truth may be totally different. If the person who is hunkered down is suffering from low morale, feeling unappreciated and does not want to be there, how would you tell and would it really matter if they are getting on with their job? Well, actually yes it does matter, it matters a lot.

You see someone who is feeling like that is working hard but they are not being as productive as they could be. Their mind is distracted. They would rather be somewhere else, anywhere else but here, and that is ticking along in the back of their mind. They are robotically carrying out procedures and completing tasks but there is no flair, no imagination, and most importantly no incentive. To be honest they do not really care whether what they do is constructive or not. You see people who have to work in a dirty environment feel that the bosses do not care. They feel like numbers, not people and as such, they have no real loyalty to the business or drive to excel.

If this was true of your sales office you would not be making many sales. Salespeople need to have energy and drive, they need to have a desire to pull in the customers and to seal that deal. They can only do this in a clean fresh environment. Even if they come in first thing in the morning all rearing to go, a dirty environment will gradually bring them down. Not even consciously, but by mid-morning or lunchtime they will be feeling deflated as they look for things behind and around yesterday’s dirty mugs, or paper cups that will not fit in the recycling bin.

So it is very important that your employees have a clean workplace, clean toilets and clean rest areas, and kitchens. This will not only improve their morale, lift their energy and make them feel pleased to work here, it will also keep germs at bay so that people are working in a much healthier environment and this will show by fewer absentees.

What To Do When Fire Strikes Your Business

8/12/2019 (Permalink)

When a fire strikes your commercial property, it's quite likely that you feel yourself start to panic. This immediate reaction makes sense given all of the economic turmoil and property destruction that a fire can cause. However, knowing which steps to take in the face of a Treasure Valley commercial fire can help prevent you from becoming anxious, losing money, and undergoing extensive property damages. To handle a treasure valley commercial fire successfully and speedily, implement the following four tips:

1. Contact A Fire Remediation Expert.
Once the fire department has doused all of the flames, be sure to call a fire remediation expert. This individual will be able to equip you with a thorough assessment indicating the extent of the damages. Don't ever attempt to handle any of the cleanups, drying, or restoration processes on your own. Doing so could put you in peril of injury and illness.

2. Assemble Your Records.
In addition to contacting a fire remediation expert, make sure that you assemble your business's essential records. You'll want to have this information with you when you start working with your insurance company. To guarantee that you can have all of your files ready in a safe place, make a point to buy a fireproof safe where they can be stored.

3. Call The Insurance Company Immediately.
Be sure that you call your insurance company once the fire is put out. This step is important because your insurance agent will work with you to file a claim and determine how much coverage you'll attain for the commercial damages.

4. Get Permission To Reenter The Building.
Always ask the fire department or another local authority whether you can reenter your building. In some cases, Treasure valley fires can weaken the structural integrity of the commercial property and make it subject to collapse. This is why you need to assure that reentry is safe for you and your employees.

Commercial Fire Damage Experts Talk About Cleaning Items Off-Site

Commercial Fire Damage

It is always a possibility that a disaster like a fire can take place at your Somersworth gift shop. Even if the blaze happens on a different floor of your building, commercial fire damage can still occur. When something burns inside another unit, things inside your store can burn as well. Smoke coming from the blaze above or next to you can also cause problems with your property. Both the heat and smoke coming from any building near you can cause commercial fire damage to your gift store.

Elements created during a fire such as excessive heat and smoke can create issues with both your building's structural components and the products inside your store.  SERVPRO technicians separate the problems into two categories. Problems that occur with things permanently attached to your structure such as carpet and walls are considered structural issues. Any item that gets ruined that is not attached to the building such as shelving units, or your products is put into the "contents" category.

In many cases, a fire can ruin both building materials and your possessions. In these situations, our SERVPRO technicians usually choose to mitigate issues with the items separately. Your contents get cleaned either in unaffected areas of your property or at a third location. Moving items out of areas where the structure is burnt will reduce secondary problems caused during the cleaning or demolition process.

The first step we take when moving out your damaged contents is to make an inventory list of all affected items. Next, our SERVPRO crew carefully packs up each item and puts it in a labeled box. Then, the contents get moved out to a clean storage location. Once we are ready to clean or treat each item individually, we move your contents into a cleaning location that has been cleaned and disinfected.

We take special care of each of your products and ensure that they are clean of any soot or soils created by the fire. If foul odors remain inside your contents, then we can use an ozone machine or ULV fogger to deodorize the objects. If you ever get affected by a structure fire call SERVPRO of Boyd, Carter, Greenup & Lewis Counties
